In the midst of the Chelsea v Man U match at the weekend, EA Sports premiered this ad.  This ad must have been at least a minute long and I watched every second.

There is so much talk about different types of communication and what’s right, wrong and indifferent but for me its about getting the idea right. This ad does just that, it works on so many levels from the actual shoot right through to broadcast on whatever platform. It entertains people and is emotive which makes me want to play the game.

Its well worth watching.

Shiver me timbers! September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day and our clients Cravendale are taking part, with the launch of their very own “Pirate Radio“. You can learn key pirate phrases, send your friends pirate messages and download a special Talk Like a Pirate Day podcast.

And to help you talk like a pirate on the move, we’ve also made a free “Pocket Pirate” app for iPhone and iPod Touch, with which you can play pirate phrases on the go and impress all your friends. You can download from the iTunes store here. Get it or be a lily-livered landlubber, yaarrr.

MTV in the US have created an interesting initiative around their reality show The Hills

“The Hills Backchannel is a multi-player social game you play while watching The Hills. Respond to what’s happening on the show by creating comments in real-time. Score points when other players click on your comments, and when you predict the most popular comments.”

You can watch an overview here

I for one think this is a great initiative and as is really effective partnership between the TV and the web.

Alone the twitter style feed over the show would have been interesting addition but to take that element and turn it in to a gaming experience is commendable.

I am not sure how well recieved this has been and would be interested to know more..

Well done MTV, I hope its a huge success.

I am delighted to say that I have been involved with the IAB’s Social Media Council since its recent inception and last month was very pleased to accept the position of Chairman for the next year.

Its an honour to be asked and I am really relishing working with the other members of the council who all bring interesting experience and views to the table.

We are putting together our plan for the next 12 months and have already made some good headway so be sure to look out for exciting developments.
