Site of the day…

Our new Milk Matters site has had a stack of great press since launching, but we had two extra special ‘Site of the Day’ mentions today;

Adobe: Site of the Day
Design Licks: Site of the Day

A quick extra nod has to go to the guys at box2d Flash, without having this great engine port, the site wouldn’t even have been possible…

Studio Launch: Cravendale

Well it’s been a long time coming, but the new Cravendale site finally went live last night.

A mixture of animation and interactivity, the site has been one of our hardest technical flash builds in recent months. See for yourself by visiting the link or read on for more technical stuff.

The original idea for the site was to create a 2d ‘Cravendale World’ with which the user could interact. After much investigation it was decided to build the site for Flash Player 9 upwards and to use the box2dflash physics engine (a port of the box2d c++ library).

As one of the first sites we could find fully utilising this engine, the flash build started very much in the dark in terms of what could be achieved. However what we have produced (and what we plan to add in the future), hopefully demonstrates a little of what can be produced with this great physics library.

Studio Launch: Love Your Mug!

If you love nothing more than a perfectly made cuppa, and hate it when someone kindly makes you one but it’s not quite right, then Cravendale and Make The Tea.com have the answer… ‘Love Your Mug’.

Simply fill in your drink preferences, choose a design and hand over a few pennies. Before you know it your mug will be sitting on your desk!

Your cuppa will never be made incorrectly again! Enjoy…

After years of chewing the cud in the never-ending fields of knowledge, Cravendale’s resident Wise Old Cow knows everything there is to know and now he’s ready and waiting for your questions.

Studio Launch: The Glenrothes

The Glenrothes have the most beautifully designed bottle on the Whisky market (in my humble opinion). Now they have a website that we hope lives up to the expectations of their customers.

Complete with user generated tasting charts and tasting notes from The Glenrothes very own Whisky Ambassador ‘Ronnie Cox’, the site offers the user a comprehensive guide to the world behind this single Speyside malt.

Studio Launch: Own Art

Ever wondered what it would be like to have your own Art Collection? Now thanks to Outside Line and the Arts Council you can live the dream, albeit virtually, and isometrically. But apart from that, it’s almost identical to the real thing. Use the drag and drop flash interface to design your own room, then select the artwork for the walls.

Or just browse the gallery to see what other people have created. You even have the chance to win £500 towards a piece of art for your own house!

Studio Launch: Diesel 30th Birthday

This was a big one! After individually printing 2500 RFID tagged wristband invites for Diesel’s 30th birthday party, we managed to get almost all of the guests to pre-register through a combination of a microsite on diesel.com and in store touch screen kiosks, leaving us with a huge database of photos of punters before the night had even come close. This meant we could incorporate real guests into the projected visuals on the night, something that had seemed impossible in the original meetings…

The event itself took place on the 11th October at Matter at the 02. Thirty different acts, a huge digital photo-wall and the icing on the cake, 8 touchscreen RFID driven live chat/imaging kiosks projected onto every surface in the club, a recipe for a very tired set of Outside Line workers, but very happy and sometimes amazed guests!

Only now after the event can I really begin to appreciate what we pulled off, awesome.

The pictures tell the story better than I ever could…

Studio Launch: Life Agency

LifeAgency.co.uk

Through our work on Cravendale we were lucky enough to be introduced to the creative and interesting folk over at Life Agency. After seeing our work they tasked us with the tricky job of design and build of their own website.

From a creative point of view it was great to find a site that could benefit from some experimental work we had been doing using the FlickR API and technically it was great to fully test out the new version of SWFAddress which has been used for deep linking and bookmarking throughout the site.

The guys at Life Agency have a unique approach to everything that they do in the world of through the line marketing and we think we have built a site that truly represents the personality of their agency and its work.

Thanks to Michelle, David and Ian (ordered by number of shoes) for all their work helping us to create their home on the internet, but most of all for allowing us the creative freedom to experiment and having the courage to try something different! Hopefully we will working together again soon.

Studio Launch: Yusuf Islam

YusufIslam.com

August saw the launch of this huge site for Yusuf Islam. It’s been a long time in the pipeline, but the final product has been more than worth the wait. With so many aspects to Yusuf’s career outside of his music, the site aims to bring together for the first time all of this content in one place.

The site includes a massive amount of audio and video content, cataloguing Yusuf’s entire career from the sixties through to today. As always the site is driven by our own custom CMS, allowing full updates to all sections, to include lyrics, a full timeline, two different members areas, charities and a shop to follow soon!

Studio Launch: The Priests

ThePriests.com: Homepage

The last few weeks in the Ouside Line studio have been hectic to say the least! However, what this does mean is that we come out the other side with a huge amount of great work to talk about…

The first of these is a site for Sony BMG artists ‘The Priests’. This multi-language site (based on our own bespoke CMS) for these three full time parish priests is setup ready for their assault on the world music scene in November 2008.
